Great traditional logger shirt! Rugged and classy at the same time. I also own the short sleeved-zip up version too.

    Hickory Stripe Logger shirt

Posted by Lou Berkley on Jul 7th 2023

This is a GREAT shirt! 100% Cotton, built like a tank (it will probably outlive you!), and yet gains in comfort with wear even after the first wash. This is an iconic fabric; authentic old school vibe, great for layering, and provides the same EDA (every day armor) feel that a good old leather jacket or solid pair of boots gives you. ALL this, and amazingly affordable! I'll buy the half-zip version which has the benefit of near-instant adjustability for work-related heat, and I'm set for life! THANK YOU Key Apparel, for a high-quality, last-century craftmenship product!

I like the heavy duty material, I would suggest getting a size larger, great old school shirt.

    Great Work Shirt

Posted by Thomas Ward on Mar 15th 2023

I rarely review but thought this product deserved one, which says something already. This button up is exactly what I was looking for. I am a firefighter that has many years of experience working in the brush with wildland fires etc. I wanted a button up “overshirt” for the ranch that was reminiscent of what I grew to love for project work on the crew. This shirt itself is slightly large, and is thicker and more “heavy duty” constructed than most pants. Most pants, like dickies for example are 9oz, this shirt is 12oz. Perfect for a work shirt. Not only can you rely on the beefy stitching, flawless seams, and thick material, but the shirt looks so good if you opt to keep it washed and clean you could easily wear it casually out and about. For my personal use I treat it like a chore coat, taking it off in the garage to hang up with my boots and hat/hardhat. It doesnt get washed except for extremely infrequently, building a patina of sorts, molding to my body, and wearing now more like armor than a flimsy shirt. For reference I am 5’6”, ordered a SM, which fit my stocky shoulders perfect. The sleeves were approx 3” too long, and the length of the shirt easily 5” too long. I took it to a tailor to fit it to me perfectly, since this shirt will easily last a decade and more, and will be the perfect investment to last me and work as hard as I do . 10/10. Absolutely recommend if you need a reliable shirt that will stand the test of time, with the history and tradition behind it that you can feel proud to continue on

    Durable Work Shirt

Posted by Sam on Mar 1st 2023

For size reference I am 6'4", 205#, 45" chest, 38/40" waist and 37" sleeve length. I ordered a size XL Tall. The shirt is relaxed fit and it fits me perfectly. I did not have to shrink this shirt as some have commented. The shirt was made in China. Four of the front buttons had very loose stitching. I asked my wife if she would put extra stitches in those buttons as I have arthritis in my wrists and hands. I gave the shirt five stars because it is a well made, quality shirt. I washed this shirt in cold water. I used about a half cap of regular liquid laundry soap and about three quarters cap of fabric softener. I put the shirt in a clothes dryer (no heat) only air dry for about 30 minutes to get rid of some of the wrinkles. I then hung the shirt to air dry. Surprisingly, I did not have to iron this shirt at all. It was virtually wrinkle free. I learned this technique about 60 years ago with the Wrangler rigid jeans and rigid denim shirts. Again, it's a nice shirt that I enjoy wearing. I have never had any issues with Key Apparel. They process and ship quickly and sell quality clothing.

    Awesome Fabric, Beautifully Tailored!

Posted by Ken D on Dec 27th 2022

Love, Love, Love this shirt! I've been searching high and low for a stylish and sturdy Hickory Stripe shirt and I think I've found it! First off is the fabric. The colors are vibrant, with a substantial hand and comfortable suppleness, despite also clearly being tough and heavy duty. No doubt this can take abuse! Also clear that this fabric is made on old school looms that impart a subtle character here and there that you just don't get with modern looms. Takes and iron well and stays looking good throughout the day. I have another hickory stripe shirt which was USA made and sewn by prisoners in Oregon (Google it if you want the brand name), but the stripes on that piece look low contrast and washed out in comparison, plus its stiff as a board even after several washes. The Key fabric however is so much better in every respect. Grade A++ Second, the tailoring is pretty darn clean with very few stay threads and nicely done buttonholes. While no one is going to mistake this for an Iron Heart shirt, I would say the stitchwork and general sewing is more than acceptable at this price point. Super dark blue (perhaps black) are a great esthetic choice. Grade: A Lastly the fit is true to size, but only judge after washing. I am 5'8", 176 lbs and typically like a more fitted look in my clothes. I ordered my typical medium and out of the package it seems kinda large, so I washed on high heat and followed in the dryer at high heat. Boy did it shrink! In fact, I almost went too far in the shrinkage that I had to steam iron it and kinda pull on the sleeves to stretch it a bit. The fit now is exactly what I was looking for. So, what I recommend is buying your normal shirt size, try it on unwashed, and then shrink to fit in steps if needed. So maybe start with warm water wash, hang dry and try it on. Can always up the water temp and/or use the dryer using progressively higher heat until you reach your sizing goal. All this sounds complicated, but it's really not, and once you find your fit, I recommend washing only in cold and hang drying to maintain perfection. In all fairness, this is described well on the Key Apparel website, and I actually like the fact you can achieve a perfect custom fit. Fit Grade A-. Subjective value opinion: So yeah, I love a lot about this shirt. Now if you're wondering why I'm taking off a star, its simply because these are no longer made in the USA. Look, I get it, the shirt would be significantly higher in cost if made here, but to me this is part of being a heritage style apparel company that's been around for over 100 years. And yeah, the price point right now is really great for what you're getting! Like really good! But I wear American Heritage style clothing because want to fully celebrate that heritage and having these made elsewhere really hurts though still an overall recommend for me. Overall Grade B+/A- Thanks for reading

    Hickory stripe shirts forever

Posted by Bert on Nov 28th 2022

$40 for a shirt? Absolutely worth it. I just bought 3 of them to replace shirts I got 20 years ago. I wore them almost every day as an Ironworker, welding, cool in the summer, a good winter layer. These are the best.
